Combinex for Sheep -  a cream coloured suspension containing 3.75% w/v levamisole hydrochloride and 5% w/v triclabendazole.
Uses:

For the treatment and control of parasitic bronchitis, parasitic gastroenteritis and fasciolosis in sheep.

When used at the recommended dose rate, Combinex Sheep is effective against mature and developing immature stages of levamisole sensitive

  • Haemonchus,

  • Ostertagia,

  • Trichostrongylus,

  • Cooperia,

  • Nematodirus,

  • Bunostomum,

  • Chabertia and

  • Oesophagostomum

  • Dictyocaulus spp. in the lungs.

  • It is also effective against all stages of triclabendazole susceptible Fasciola hepatica from 2 day old early immature to adult fluke therefore is indicated against both acute and chronic fasciolosis.


 
Dosage and administration:


  • Combinex Sheep is given as an oral drench and is suitable for use through most types of automatic drenching guns. It can be safely administered to young, pregnant or stressed sheep.
    Recommended dose rate: 7.5 mg levamisole hydrochloride/kg bodyweight and 10 mg triclabendazole/kg bodyweight. This is equivalent to 1 ml Combinex Sheep per 5 kg bodyweight.
    Examples:

  • 10 kg  2 ml

  • 11–15 kg  3 ml

  • 16–20 kg  4 ml

  • 21–30 kg  6 ml

  • 31–40 kg  8 ml

  • 41–50 kg 10 ml

  • 51–60 kg 12 ml


 
Contra-indications, warnings, etc:

When the product is used at the recommended dose rate and animals are not overly stressed, side effects are rare. At higher dosages, transient side effects due to levamisole may occur (i.e. salivation and slight muscle tremors). Assess bodyweight as accurately as possible. Intensive use or misuse of anthelmintics can give rise to resistance. To reduce this risk, dosing programmes should be discussed with your Veterinary Adviser.

  • Efficacy of this product against roundworms is reduced if levamisole-resistant strains are present.

  • Efficacy of this product against liver fluke is reduced if triclabendazole-resistant strains are present.

  • Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment.

  • Sheep should not be slaughtered for human consumption within 56 days of the last treatment.

  • Not to be administered to sheep producing milk intended for human consumption.

  • For animal treatment only.

  • Keep out of the reach of children.

  • When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands and exposed skin before meals and after work. Wash splashes from eyes and skin immediately. Take off immediately any contaminated clothing.

  • Dispose of used containers safely.

  • Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with the products or used container.

  • Levamisole can cause idiosyncratic reactions and serious blood disorders in a very small number of people. If symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting or abdominal discomfort are experienced when using the product, or sore mouth/throat or fever occur shortly afterwards, then medical advice should be sought immediately.
